Battery types. How to Choose the battery I need?

Choosing the right type of battery for your MP3, MP4 device, digital camera or other.

Choose the battery I need

Choosing the appropriate stack

  • Basic question first. What brand of battery use? 's brand of batteries , battery does not affect in any way to a device , therefore the selection of them runs by choice. The fact that the mark does not affect the system allows us to test different brands of batteries and thus determine what is appropriate. What should be clear is that there is a specific brand for each device, and while the manuals say to batteries or even memory card from the same company are used, all of that has a commercial purpose and nothing else.
  • Another completely different brand battery aspect is "battery type" . The most common are the AA or LR6 (commonly called the girls very common batteries for use in disc man, game boys, clocks etc.) And AAA (even smaller and narrower than previous common remotes Electronics MP3 players, etc).
  • For the type of battery used , it IS important to be the same as required camera, this is basic that already anyway to have different physical sizes may not be used because it will not enter the compartment where they are placed.
  • It is now common the use of rechargeable batteries , ie, batteries that can be used repeatedly and that one that can refresh once used. For the case of rechargeable batteries, either AA or AAA, there are two types: NI-CD or NI-MH.
  • The NI-CD batteries are nickel-cadmium , who have what is commonly called memory effect, which means that in order to recharge the battery should be completely exhausted, otherwise, the other charge you the remainder goes goes on residual in the same way, occupying the site, with a consequent reduction in capacity. They also tend to have little capacity and only allow 400 to 500 recharges.
  • Batteries NI-MH (nickel-metal hydride , also called ecological batteries) do not suffer from memory effect due to its lacking cadmium alloy. This means you can recharge whenever we want, without having to wait for it to totally exhausted but also support more than 1,000 recharges, double the NI-CD.
  • The third issue is the issue of the amount of mAh (milliamp hours) that determine the capacity of the battery , the higher capacity, longer life.
  • Keep in mind that the mAh, will always be higher number in AA batteries in the AAA, by simple matter of physical size.
  • Today the maximum capacities are between 2,300 and 2,500 mAh for AA batteries, and 800 and 1,000 mAh for AAA batteries.
  • Finally, to recharge the batteries should be available with a charger that is compatible with the type of battery that is the size, either AA or AAA.
