How to Organize Your Cables

If you have miles of cable from your computer to your TV and your DVD video or sound, this article shows some simple ways to organize your cables and give them a more attractive appearance, do not be pretentious about the mess. The new generation of organizers to hide cables come in elegant designs. You can hide the wires and give your wall or floor look clean in minutes.





  1. You can find some tubing at a local hardware store or a computer accessory to hide the wires, which can hold a large or small cable package. You want to make sure you have a tube that is flexible and easy to slip in and out of the cables. Some stores sell a plastic tube which is bent to fit the shape of the cables and has a groove along one side so that it can easily slide, even in the corners. Also look Velcro straps for bundling cables.
  2. Check the length of the cables. It is advisable to reduce cable clutter by replacing long cables with short, and cover. Measure along the wall from the TV or cable in the ground, and from there to the point each cable plugs from the TV, computer or modem. Consider the distance from the TV or cable in the ground: this is the length of the product to cover the cable that you will need. Make a list of cable and length, add three inches to each measurement cable.
  3. Measure the diameter, width and depth of the cables as a group. Keep cords to the wall and measure the width in diameter, and the distance from the wall to the top of the cables. Take note of these measures.
  4. Secure the wires with tape. Wrap the tape around the wires at intervals of two feet from six inches below the cable outlet.
  5. Use cable coverage according to package directions. Install the cover over the cables, putting cables on the inside cover. Start at the top of the wires and proceed to the bottom of the wall.
  6. If you are trying to hide long cable television or Internet in your home or apartment, look for the start of the extension cable and slide the cable line against the wall in the middle of the carpet and wall tapestry. If your carpet is very flat, or you do not have carpet paste the cable against the base of the wall to avoid tripping over long cables.
  7. To hide the cables in an office you can always paint color cable lines to match the surrounding area. You can use any type of organic product which masks the color paint to match the surrounding environment.
