How to remove a permanent marker stain

Remove a stain from a permanent marker can seem impossible. Washing clothes in the washing machine will not only remove this difficult stain, so special care must be taken to remove it. Not every remedy will work on every garment, and may be a process of trial and error, but over time, the stain will come out.

Instructions 


  • Apply acetone to the stain and dry with a clean paper towel until the stain permanent marker disappears.
  • Wash clothes in the washer with a cup of salt , cold water and no detergent.
  • Place a paper towel under the garment . Spray the stain with hairspray and rub with a cotton swab. The paper towel will help absorb the stain and prevent the other side from staining.
  • Apply a degreaser (eg KH-7) to the stain and dry with a clean paper towel until the stain disappears.
  • Soak the stained area in vinegar for at least an hour and wash it in the washing machine.
  • Mix cream of tartar (potassium bitartrate, also known as potassium hydrogen tartrate) and lemon juice into a paste and apply to the stain. Allow to sit for about an hour before putting the garment in the washing machine.
  • Rub the stain permanent marker with toothpaste and a paper towel. Make sure it is the type of pasta; A gel will not work.

  1. Nail polish remover
  2. Paper towels
  3. Salt
  4. Hairspray
  5. Cotton swab
  6. Degreaser, type KH-7
  7. Vinegar
  8. Cream of tartar
  9. Lemon juice
  10. Toothpaste

Advice

Do not wash the stained garment in the washing machine without treat the stain first, since you can set the stain and never be able to eliminate it.
