Establish guidelines for teamwork

Once you have determined the issues of purpose, goals and plans, the heads of team must pay attention to the actual mechanics of how the team does its job.

Most team leaders know they must help your team define the goals, but the matter does not stop there. You also need to agree on the mechanics of how the team will do the job.

Here are four points that each team must be clear:

1. Roles and responsibilities . Each member needs to know their tasks and how their work contributes to the overall objectives.

2. processes work . You do not need a notebook full of procedures, but must agree on how to perform the basics such as decision making or communication.

3. participation rules . Establish a culture of constructive possession. Discuss the values, norms and beliefs that will shape the collaboration between team members .

4. performance measures . How will you measure progress? Define the measures to achieve the objectives as well as the consequences of not meeting them.
