How to make liquid hand soap with 4 common ingredients

Use bars of soap for washing hands is long gone, the liquid soap is easier to use and is preferred by many today, but the price difference between a bar soap and liquid is outrageous, especially if you buy generic bars when they are on sale. The benefits in savings to make a homemade soap instead of purchase in a store are obvious, but you can also personalize your soap adding scented essential oils or herbal tea .

make liquid hand soap

Ingredients

  • 1 Bar Soap (6 oz)
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon of glycerin
  • Water

Instructions

  1. Grate the bar into small flakes, pour into a blender.
  2. Add 1 cup boiling water and stir.
  3. Add 1/2 cup water at room temperature and mix.
  4. Add honey and glycerin, and mix in a blender.
  5. Allow the mixture to cool (15 minutes) and then whisk again.
  6. The mixture should be 2 cups at this point. Cover with cold water until mixture measures 5 to 6 cups, whisk again.
  7. Pour into containers and let cool (no cover yet).
  8. Tape packaging after an hour. The mixture will thicken.
  9. Stir before use as necessary.

Another homemade version:

Keep the scrap bars (or shred a complete bar), then pour into a glass jar and covered with boiling water (about twice the amount of soap flakes). Stir and then seal with the lid. Shake the jar a few times while the water is cooling to get rid of any lumps. Once the mixture has cooled, mix well and add a few drops of your favorite essential oil if you want a scented version.

Instructions: Pour into a bottle then cover with water as needed to get the right consistency (shake well). If for some reason the mixture is too watery, just melt some grated soap in some warm water and then add to the first mixture until thickened.

Advice

You can make herb-infused soap, simply strain before use.
Refill and reuse any plastic or glass bottle recycling.
