How to tell if you have high blood pressure

The best way is to go to a checkup with the doctor. In the United States there are machines available at some pharmacies where the person only gets the arm and the machine takes the pressure and gives the results. To interpret the numbers you can use the following table:

Normal blood pressure
Systolic - Less than 120
Diastolic - Less than 80

High Blood Pressure
Systolic - 140 or more
Diastolic - 90 or more

Prehypertension
Systolic - Between 120 and 139
Diastolic - Between 80 and 89

Systolic Hypertension Isolated
Systolic - 140 or more
Diastolic - Less than 90

Old method of taking blood pressure at home

I found this method in a book and I became interesting. Hang a key to a thread. Place your left thumb on the right wrist of the person who will take the pressure. Extend a tape measure parallel to the arm on the table.

Bring the key moving like a pendulum over the tape. If you have low pressure key start turning on its axis to get numbers 5-7. If the pressure is high, turn the key to get to 10. Do not rely on this method to handle the pressure.
